Estonia’s Jewish community has always been small — a few thousand people at its height — but its story runs through the whole of the country’s modern history: the first permanent community in Tallinn in the nineteenth century, the unique cultural autonomy granted by the young Estonian republic in the 1920s, the near‑total destruction of the community under German occupation in 1941–1944, the Soviet decades, and the revival since independence, with a new synagogue and a museum in the capital.
Most of that history is not marked by grand monuments. It is told in streets, addresses and cemeteries — the site of the pre‑war synagogue destroyed in the bombing of March 1944, the Jewish school, the homes of community figures, the Rahumäe Jewish cemetery, the memorial at the former Klooga camp on the coast west of the city. The tours are led by a local historian and regional specialist who has researched the Jewish history of Tallinn and Estonia and guides in English and Russian. This is not a scripted city tour with a Jewish chapter added; the route, the stops and the commentary are built around the community’s history, and the guide can go as deep as the party wishes — from a first orientation for visitors to specific family, street and archive questions for guests researching their own history.
The chauffeur works alongside the guide. While the party is on foot in the Old Town or inside the museum, the vehicle repositions to the next meeting point; between sites spread across the city, the guide continues in the car. For guests with limited mobility the walking sections are shortened and the vehicle brought as close as access allows.

In which languages are the tours guided?
